Quote Of The Week

This quote by Omar Khayyam reminds us of the ONLY reality of our life, i.e. the moment we are living right now is our entire life. Our life is neither the past nor the future. Why? It is because the past is gone and cannot be re-lived. The future is yet to come, and we can’t be sure about it. So why worry about the past or pine for the future? By doing so, we will only spoil the present moment.

Unfortunately, we are very prone to getting caught up in the past or keep worrying about the future. In this way, we tend to ignore the present. Only if we could learn to live in the moment, our life would be much happier and fulfilling. Until and unless we focus on the present moment, we cannot fully appreciate the beauty of life. The present moment is what all we have, hence we have to live through this moment to the fullest.

If we learn to live in the present, we’ll be able to let go of the past regrets and the future worries. We will be leading the most contented life–a life full of joys, and happiness. Life is a precious gift from God and is composed of many beautiful moments. We need to appreciate each moment to its fullest and create beautiful memories. In this way, we will be able to find the true meaning and purpose of our lives. This will also make us more grateful to the Creator.

  1. So true. The present is really precious which is why it is called “present” as if it is a gift. However my problem is that the present is always too busy… Often I feel like a mindless person running around flustering and worrying and doing things that are all mundane and routine and repetitive…

  2. You have beautifully underscored the importance of present moment, Shahbaz. Agree with you that we tend to get caught up in the past or worry about the future. In this way, we ignore the beauty of the present. We should learn to let go of past regrets and future worries and focus only on our present life and enjoy it to the fullest. This quote and the commentary thereon is an excellent reminder to cherish the present moment and lead a life full of joys.
