Quote Of The Week # 2

As I had committed last week that I would be sharing a weekly quote every Thursday, here is the second quote of this series.

What are your thoughts about this quote? Do you agree with Earnest Hemingway?

Have you ever loved someone so much that you almost lost yourself in the process? Did you ever negate your own personality with a view to winning someone? Was it real love or mere infatuation? Have you ever suffered the pain, Hemingway is talking about?

In my humble view, Hemingway is referring to unrequited love. You only experience this anguish when your love fails to elicit any response from the person you so profoundly love. Then, you regret your choice or decision to love someone at your own expense. Nothing is more painful and insulting than being ditched in love.

  1. Yes, I very much agree. Sometimes we love someone else till we start sacrificing ourselves for them. That definitely happens in unrequited love but also in requited love. When we’re with the wrong person we start to forget that we too are special.
